Working Principle

The C8051F989-C-GMR operates using the Enhanced Core 8051 CPU, which is a 200-pin architecture offering up to 40 MHz performance. The chipsets have in-system programming (ISP) and in-application programming (IAP) capabilities, allowing software applications to be updated without the need for costly hardware replacements. The chip also includes an integrated power management unit (PMU) for automatic power-saving modes in battery-powered applications as well as an embedded temperature sensor for thermal management.It also includes an integrated voltage regulator to provide stability when switching between 1.8V and 3.3V operation. Additionally, the embedded memory architecture includes 4KB of static RAM, 36K of user Flash memory, 8KB of Shadow RAM, 8KB of Data RAM, and up to 512KB of Flash code memory. The internal flash memory also has Data EEPROM and 32kB of program latency on-chip.The microcontroller also provides an integrated 10-bit ADC, two configurable DACs, four low power timers (LPTs), a quadrature encoder interface (QEI), and an eight-channel serial peripheral interface (SPI). It is also capable of acting as a master and slave in a serial communication bus and its interrupts are configurable.The integrated matrix keypad decoder can detect up to 16 keys and the on-chip oscillator makes the microcontroller suitable for use with various clock frequencies and operating modes. Additionally, it also includes a software utility that enables easy customization of the microcontroller for systems with different memory configurations and clock speeds.Finally, the microcontroller has been designed to meet safety and regulatory requirements in applications that require low-power operation, such as battery powered devices. It has also been designed to operate reliably at extreme temperatures and offers an extensive selection of packages and pin-outs.
