It is a latching Hall-effect device, typically used in motor control applications such as automotive starter motors and fuel pumps. The device is sensitive to a 0.6 ± 0.2 gauss change in magnetic field and has an internal hysteresis to reduce false triggering due to “edge” effects.

Due to its sophisticated internal circuitry and integrated protection features, the device is capable of withstanding high temperatures and high levels of electrical stress in severe conditions, making it highly suitable for automotive applications.
