The shifting and dimming frequency is accurately controlled to prevent audible noise, and the internal power MOSFETs are capable of holding its slightly lower on-resistance at temperatures up to 155°C. The device is available in a small SOT-25 package, making it ideal for space-constrained applications. Working PrincipleThe working of the CAT3637HV3-GT2 is based on Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology. This technology uses a variable duty cycle signal to control the LED current and brightness. The pulse width of the signal is adjusted by a master oscillator and a counter circuit to modulate the MOSFET, generating a rectangular pulse that determines the current flow and output voltage. Therefore, by modulating the on and off time intervals the PWM signal controls the LED current, and consequently the LED lighting brightness. Furthermore, the chip allows for a adjustable one-shot feature that works when the “EN” signal is transitioned from High to Low, setting the LED current before entering in the PWM mode.
