The CC-9C-CE6 is a microcontroller unit (MCU) embedded evaluation board designed by Freescale in 2013. It is programmed with a 16-bit single-chip microcontroller, the MC9S08CE6, which integrates a number of features and functions in a very compact package. This board is aimed at development in an embedded environment.

The MC9S08CE6 MCU is a low-cost system-on-chip with integrated low-power features including a 16 MHz internal clock, 6K bytes Flash memory, 512 bytes RAM, Tunable Capacitance oscillator, 8-channel 10-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), 5 ch PWM, SCI interface, 2-channel I2C interface and SPIS/S interface. It also has 16K bytes EEPROM accessible from any core instruction. The on-chip clock is driven by an external crystal oscillator.

The CC-9C-CE6 provides the development engineer with tools to evaluate the performance of the board and measure real-time performance, load time, power consumption, output waveform, temperature monitoring and debugging. A comprehensive set of development tools is provided to support the board with an Integrated Development Environment, a Programmer Board, Debugger Board, Flash Programmer Board, CodeWarrior and Sample Projects.

In addition, the CC-9C-CE6 supports a wide variety of target development boards such as the Freescale Flexis family, Freescale Vybrid and Freescale Kinetis families, as well as the ARM Cortex-M0/M1/M3/M4 families. The MCU can be integrated into a wide variety of applications such as automotive, industrial, communications, medical, home automation, control and lighting. It is also suitable for design and implementation of development tools and systems for embedded applications.

The working principle of the CC-9C-CE6 is relatively simple. The MCU is programmed with instructions which, when executed, execute the functions defined in the program. The microcontroller manages the hardware resources of the board, making it possible to access the peripherals and execute the necessary instructions in order to process data and produce digital or analog outputs. The programming environment facilitates the development of projects, such as embedded systems, communication based systems, user interfaces, debugging and simulation.
