CC150/4SA500

A contactor is an electrically-controlled switch used for switching an electrical power circuit. This type of contactor is distinguished by the fact that it is designed for high-capacity circuits and uses an electromechanical operating mechanism. The CC150, 4SA500 series of contactors are widely utilized in industrial and heavy-duty applications, such as electric motors, lighting control, motor starters, and more.

The CC150 contactor uses a single coil actuator that is capable of producing up to 150A continuous current. It uses a form A normally-open contact that is capable of carrying 400VAC and 50/60Hz for residential or industrial applications. The contact is typically air-break and uses a metal-to-metal contactor with no internal arc shield. The contactor is also UL listed and tested to UL 508G standards for excessive temperature and voltage.

The 4SA500 contactor uses two coils that are built in a two-step, non-overlapping design. It is capable of producing up to 500A continuous current, with a similar form A normally-open contact that is capable of carrying 400VAC and 50/60Hz. This contactor also uses a metal-to-metal contactor with no internal arc use an air-break contact, and is also UL listed and tested to UL 508G standards for excessive temperature and voltage.

The working principle for contactors is the same for both the CC150 and 4SA500 series contactors. When an electric current passes through the coil, it creates a magnetic field, which in turn creates a pulling force on the contactor’s electromechanical actuator. This causes the contactor to open or close the circuit, and the contactor stays in the desired state until the electric current is removed. This allows for the remote switching of a circuit without the risk of accidental firing.

In addition to the manual control provided by the contactor’s electromechanical system, contactors can also be controlled digitally. Many of the CC150 and 4SA500 series contactors are equipped with an auxiliary contact output, which can be used to control the contactor’s state digitally. By providing a low voltage control signal to the input terminals on the contactor, the contactor can be switched open or closed remotely without the need for a manual operator.
