Logic - Flip Flops
The CD40175BEG4 is a quad JK negative edge-triggered flip-flop circuit that utilizes TTL logic levels and provides a wide range of flexibility for logic and memory applications for digital systems. The device operates by an input inversion by utilizing an internal circuitry that takes the output of four negative-edge JK flip-flops to develop the inverse of the inputs. The four JK flip-flops are synchronized by an advancing clock pulse.
Application Field
The main application field for the CD40175BEG4 is for logic and memory circuits for digital systems. Each of the four JK flip-flops can be used to store a bit of information, allowing the circuit to be used as a register, Counter or in state machine applications. Working Principle
The CD40175BEG4 is a synchronous circuit which operates by utilizing a common input clock pulse, or an advance/incurring clock pulse. This input cycle is used as a synchronization signal which will activate all four of the individual JK flip-flops that are contained within the device at the same time. The device has four independent inputs (J), (K), ( preset) and (clear). Each flip-flop is sychronized by the clock, and their inputs will remain static during clocking periods.
The J input is set when high, while the K input is set when low. The preset and clear inputs can be used to reset the JK flip-flops when they are set to high or low. An output is generated at the Q and Q’ pins when the clock is low, or off. The device utilizes negative logic (inverted logic) which enables the flip-flows to output the inverse of the input.
The CD40175BEG4 is a useful tool in embedded digital systems, allowing designers to quickly implement logic, memory and syncronization functions into a design. It can provide the flexibility that is needed to boost the performance, and reduce the size of the overall design.
