CD4078BNSRG4 is the high-performance four-input CMOS multiplexer/data select that offers maximum flexibility and performance. It is organized as a 8-pole, 10-position switch in two banks. It is specifically designed for ease of implementation in applications requiring multiplexing of two banks of binary or octal data. It is manufactured using high-density CMOS technology and is specified over the full military temperature range.This device features a common select input for each bank, two active low data inputs for each bank, one active high data input for each bank, and an output enable control. The output enable control is active low and used to control the logic level of the data line. It also features an input enable/disable control to enable or disable the data inputs from each bank.The CD4078BNSRG4 offers a wide range of features for multiplexing applications, including wide input and output range, low noise, low power, wide voltage range and low power dissipation. It is also well suited for low-voltage applications such as those employing low-voltage CMOS (LVCMOS) or LVTTL devices. The device is available in a 20-pin SOIC (Small Outline Integrated Circuit) package.The CD4078BNSRG4 is commonly used as a logic switch, multiplexer/data selector, decoder and/or multiple input/output device. As a logic switch, it can be used to route one data line or sig-nal to multiple locations or vice versa. As a multiplexer/data selector, it can be used to select one of multiple data lines or signals for routing to output. As a decoder, it can be used to decode a binary signal into an activating signal for a corresponding output. In addition, it is used in multiple input/output (MIO) systems for routing signals from one device to another.The device has three basic operating modes; multiplexing, latching and logic switching. In multiplexing mode, the output is selected from one of the two banks of input signals. Both banks have active low data and active high data inputs for each position, and the output is controlled by a single output enable line. In latching mode, the output is latched by an enable signal and is selected from only one of the two banks. In logic switching mode, the input signals are routed to their respective output lines without the need for enable control. The logic switching mode is useful when operating two independent logic blocks.The CD4078BNSRG4 is also highly reliable, offering high speed switching, low power consumption, and low power dissipation. The device is available in a range of densities and can also be used in multiplexer circuits to recapture and/or store logic functions.
