CD4556BE is a low power integrated circuit fabricated in a bipolar process. It is used in variety of logic and signal switching applications, multiplexers, decoders and converters. It is available in 8 pin DIP, 16 pin SOIC, and 16 pin SOL packages.

The CD4556BE provides a set of three inverting and non-inverting buffer/drivers with 3-state outputs (Q). The output drivers can be enabled by their corresponding active low (E) inputs. With the (E) inputs high, the outputs are TRI-STATE and no matter what the logic level at the input, the outputs will be OFF. With the (E) inputs low, the outputs will present the logic level at their inputs.
The CD4556BE also includes a set of three comparators, one active low (E) controlling them all at once. The comparators have analog inputs (A) and a reference voltage (V) that can be adjusted to compare the two input voltages (A, V). An output (OUT) indicates which of the two inputs is larger. They operate from 1.8V to 6V and their speed can be adjusted with the hysteresis control pin (HYS).
