CD74HC4016PWR is typically used in electronic application for data and power supply when precise control over switching of analog signals and multiplexing of digital signals is required. The switch is made up of two very important components – a tri-state gate and a four channel analog multiplexer. The tri-state gate allows the device to switch between two channels of analog signals while the four channel analog multiplexer allows up to four digital signals to be multiplexed and demultiplexed.The tri-state gate works by switching between two different analog signals. This is done by providing a control input to the gate in the form of a logic enable signal. The logic enable signal makes sure that the gates on the chip switch between two different signals by providing the correct amount of current to the switched gate. When the logic enable signal is low, the gate is open, allowing the two analog signals to pass through. When the logic enable is high, the gate is closed, forcing all of the current to pass through only one channel. This is how the tri-state gate works and enables the device to switch analog signals.The four channel analog multiplexer works by allowing up to four digital signals to be multiplexed and demultiplexed. The multiplexer works by providing an enable signal to the switch which allows the channel selector to indicate which channel of digital signals to pass through. When no digital signal is to be sent, the enable signal is zero and none of the digital signals will pass through. When the enable signal is one, the channel selector will select the digital signal that needs to pass through.
