When the SET and RESET inputs are low, the Slave Flip Flop outputs D0 and D1 are held in the same state as the data input pins depending of the high and low logic level of the data inputs. Master Flip Flop is always in the same output state as the Slave Flip Flop. When SET and RESET go high, the Master Flip Flop does not receive a clock event. This causes the Master Flip Flop output to remain in the same state regardless of the data inputs and the Slave Flip Flop output.
The CD74HC73M is designed to work in the range of 4.5volt to 6.0 volt and with current draw to a maximum of 1mA. It is not suitable for high power applications and should never be used at voltages higher than 6.0 volts. The input and output pins are TTL inputs/outputs and must not be driven directly by Open Collector outputs. CD74HC73M Flip Flop devices are available with different operating speeds: 1.2ns, 2.2ns, 10ns and 14ns.
