The CDC5806PW supports three output formats: Analog (can output three clock outputs of 26Hz to 150MHz), Digital (can output up to seven digital clock outputs from 1MHz to 150MHz), or Hardened (can output one clock output from 1MHz to 150MHz). Additionally, the CDC5806PW provides pin-selectable settings to offer two or three-state outputs, variable duty cycles and hangover detection for testing.Due to its advanced features and on-chip programmability, the CDC5806PW is widely used in a variety of applications. These include telecommunications and server systems, medical diagnostic equipment, television and audio set-top boxes, gaming consoles, and other consumer electronics. The working principle of the CDC5806PW follows the general principles of a PLL-type clock generator. This involves a reference clock and an output frequency, which can be controlled by adjusting either one of these signals with the help of a Phase-Frequency Detector (PFD) and a Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO).When the reference clock and the output frequency are the same, the two signals will be in-phase, which is referred to as a locked state. If, for some reason, the reference and output frequencies diverge, the PFD will detect the difference in frequency and send the corresponding signal to the VCO to adjust the output frequency. With the PFD sending information to the VCO, the output frequency can be adjusted to match the reference clock. This allows the CDC5806PW to maintain a highly accurate frequency output in all situations.The CDC5806PW is an ideal solution for many applications due to its highly-accurate performance, versatile features, and wide frequency range.
