The working principle of the diode is based on the use of a two-layer substrate. The two layers consist of an N-type diffusion layer and a P-type diffusion layer. When the forward voltage is applied, the current flows from the N-type layer to the P-type layer, producing an electric field. This electric field creates a rectifying voltage and effectively blocks the current from flowing back from the P-type layer to the N-type layer. The rectifying voltage is determined by the magnitude of the applied forward voltage, as well as the junction capacitance between the two types of layers. When the reverse voltage is applied the current does not flow anymore due to the blocking effect of the rectifying voltage. This is why the CDC7631-000 diode is mostly used in signal-detection circuitry in applications where preventing signal saturation is of utmost importance.The CDC7631-000 is a versatile diode with a variety of applications.
