Contactor is an electrical component used to control a large amount of electrical energy, but can handle only low currents. It is a switch that is remotely operated using electrical signals or through low current circuits. CDC85-12 is such a contactor that is designed for use in the applications of AC motor control, circuit breaking, and load switching.
Application field of CDC85-12
Contactors are used to automate operation for motors and lighting systems that need frequent switching. With its environmental protection design concept, the CDC85-12 is environmentally friendly and allows up to 40A rated operation current, making it suitable for a variety of motor control applications, circuit breaking, and load switching. Such applications include-
- Pump and fan motor control
- AC motor control
- Lighting system control
- General load switching
- Inverter motor start/stop control
The contactor can perform over 20,000 operations without failure if the surrounding temperature stays between -5 °C and + 50°C. It\'s also extremely suitable for the outdoor environment due to its well-designed electric insulation structure.
Working Principles of CDC85-12
The contactor is built around a bimetallic element which functions as a heat source and main switch. When electric current passes through a contactor, electrical energy produces heat due to the different contact materials used to form the switch. This heat is dissipated away by the contacts themselves. This allows a safe electrical current to be maintained and the electrical connection to be switched on and off without any arcs present.
The contactor contains two sets of fixed contacts and two movable contacts that are connected to a coil. When electric current passes through the coil, it generates a magnetic field which pushes the movable contacts against the fixed contacts. This action provides a closed circuit for the electric current and switches the circuit on or off. The position of the contacts can be easily adjusted manually or by using an actuator in order to change the position of the contacts when required.
The contactor also contains an auxiliary switch that allows the user to easily identify the status of the switch. This switch is connected to a pair of contacts that are opened and closed when the main contacts are opened or closed. The auxiliary switch also helps to provide additional safety measures by providing an indication of the status of the contactor.
The contactor is designed for use in high-voltage applications, and is suitable for use in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. It provides high reliability, long life, and can be used for a variety of applications. It is an important component in the electrical system, and can be used to provide a safe and reliable connection for circuits.
