The CDCV855PW is a low power Clock/Timing - Clock Generators, PLLs and Frequency Synthesizers integrated circuit (IC) designed to generate high quality clock signals. It features multiple programmable output frequencies that are determined by the user-defined control pins.
The CDCV855PW features a high-resolution reference clocking module that offers low power consumption and greater accuracy. The circuit also contains a phase-locked loop (PLL) that allows the user to externally program clock frequencies up to 855MHz. The PLL is controlled by a selectable clock reference source, which may be internal or external.
The internal logic consists of two programmable dividers with no off-chip phase-locked loop components. The CDCV855PW provides programmable phase and frequency control over the differential divider pair. The divider output is fed to a phase comparator which locks the differential divider pair to the desired frequency of operation.
The user can control the reference, as well as the output clock frequency, of the CDCV855PW by adjusting the control pins. This allows users to generate frequencies under 500MHz or up to 855MHz. The output clock frequency is saved in an internal EEPROM, allowing for greater flexibility and no adjustments on the next power supplies. Additionally, the output phase offset is adjustable either via the phase control pin or digitally through an internal phase alignment module.
The CDCV855PW is designed for applications such as cellular base stations and handsets, digital TVs, set-top boxes, digital controllers and other high-speed clock-dependent applications. Because of its low power consumption, the circuit is also ideal in applications where general power saving is desired.
