Introduction

The CDSUR400 is a diode rectifier single device with a peak repetitive reverse voltage of 400V and a continuous forward current of 4A. It is widely used in applications such as general purpose rectification and freewheeling diodes, overvoltage protection and isolation, line voltage boost, and low power factor improvement.

Application Fields

General Purpose Rectification and Freewheeling Diodes

The CDSUR400 can be used in various general purpose rectification and freewheeling diodes. As a rectifier diode, it can be used to convert AC power supply to DC power supply, and as a freewheeling diode, it can provide discharge path for the inductor in a switching circuit, prevent current from reverse flowing by clamp action and protect other circuit components from damage due to electromagnetic interference.

Overvoltage Protection and Isolation

CDSUR400 can also be used in applications of overvoltage protection and isolation. It can be used to protect electronic components and circuits from damage due to excessive voltage and current. It can also be used to isolate the input and output circuit areas, avoiding interference while data transmission.

Line Voltage Boost

The CDSUR400 can be used in line voltage boost applications, such as AC-DC power supply, LED lighting and LED drive circuits. It helps to boost the voltage to a level that can drive the load. Due to its low forward voltage drop and high current continuous forward current rating, it can effectively boost the line voltage with minimal power loss.

Low Power Factor Improvement

Working Principle

The CDSUR400 is a device with two electrodes, an anode and a cathode. It acts as a one-way valve that only allows current to flow in the forward direction. When a positive voltage is applied to the anode, the diode starts to conduct and current will flow. The voltage drop across the diode is known as the forward voltage drop. The voltage rating of the device will determine the amount of current that can flow through it.

In reverse bias condition, the device stops conducting. The voltage rating is used to determine how much reverse voltage can be applied to the device before it breaks down and starts to conduct.
