CFSH01-30L TR is a single phase, positive-negative polarity, silicon rectifier diode. Featuring a trr (reverse recovery time) of 30ns, 30A of maximum continuous forward current and 1800V of operational peak reverse voltage, it is commonly used for power supply, automobile relay and low-voltage switch circuits. CFSH01-30L TR’s working principle is the same as other rectifier diodes. It uses a p-n junction diode, which is an asymmetrical semiconductor device. The diode is made up of two sections with closely adjacent p-type and n-type semiconductor materials separated by a thin layer. During operation, current will only flow through one direction. In other words, the current can only run in one direction in the circuit and the other direction, opposing the first, is blocked. This is due to the diode’s electrical characteristics, which leads to the unidirectional flow of current. The diode is normally manufactured to be a unipolar device (as opposed to a bipolar device). The diode acts as a one-way gate for current.

When a voltage is initially applied to the junction, an initial voltage drop of about 0.7V (forward voltage drop) is observed. The junction will then begin to conduct current if the applied voltage is greater than the forward voltage drop. As the current through the junction increases, so does the voltage conduction. The eventual conduction of the diode is given by the reverse breakdown voltage, which is usually at a high voltage. The breakdown voltage can range from around tens of volts to thousands of volts depending on the diode’s characteristics. As the name suggests, during this reverse breakdown, the diode is said to be in the reverse-biased state.

Now that current is running through the junction, the diode will start to conduct current until the applied voltage drops to zero. This process is referred to as storing energy. As the voltage drops, the current will gradually decrease as well until it reaches zero. The overall time it takes for the current to reach zero is known as the reverse recovery time, and for CFSH01-30L TR diodes, this is 30ns. After this, the diode will be in its off-state, ready for the next cycle of operation.

CFSH01-30L TR diodes, being single phase rectifier diodes, are widely used as a simple power supply solution, providing a low cost and reliable means of voltage adaption.
