The CLC016MTC/NOPB is a programmable clock generator which is designed with digital frequency conversion while providing a wide range of input frequencies and precise digital divider frequencies. It is designed to offer flexibility and to meet the requirements of any particular application.
The device is made up of two parts: a phase-locked loop (PLL) and a digital–to–analog converter (DAC). The PLL takes the input signal and converts it into a higher frequency when its frequency is locked. This allows the digital–to–analog converter (DAC) to generate a precise clock signal in a range of frequencies.
In general, the CLC016MTC/NOPB has great flexibility due to its programmable frequency inputs and outputs. The outputs are configurable in increments from 0-999 Hz, giving a total output frequency range from 0-999 kHz. The device also incorporates one input frequency clock from 0-985 kHz, which can be selected from a variety of reference clocks such as crystal, crystal oscillator, or ceramic resonator. It also has some advanced features such as a on-chip adjustable duty cycle, clock skew and duty cycle compensation, on-chip temperature compensation and spread spectrum clock.
The CLC016MTC/NOPB also provides a clock glitch free serial output which allows a safe reset of logic devices. This is possible due to the glitch-free output architecture that eliminates the possibility of any glitches while resetting the logic devices. This is particularly useful in microprocessor-based systems where device reset is frequently needed.
