Fixed inductors are electrical components, usually consisting of coils of wire wrapped into a donut-like shape, that store energy in a magnetic field. The CLQ4D10NP-101NC series of inductors are high-performance passive electronic components consisting of an insulated coil wound around a ferrite core. Available in surface mount or through-hole packages, the CLQ4D10NP-101NC series of inductors offer enhanced power handling, superior high-frequency performance and miniature size.The CLQ4D10NP-101NC inductor is primarily used in switching power supplies, DC-DC converters, noise and EMI/RFI suppression, power filter networks, and other high-frequency circuits. Its high Q lossless material provides better power efficiency than typical inductors and reduces further the size of the circuit. The high permeability material also ensures low core losses at high frequencies and low stray capacitance.The basic working principle behind the CLQ4D10NP-101NC inductor is to convert electrical energy into magnetic energy, and vice versa. As current flows through the inductor, an associated magnetic field is created. This magnetic field continues to build even when the current through the inductor decreases to zero, but if the current is still flowing, then the magnetic field will remain in place. The reverse happens when electric energy is converted from magnetic energy; the magnetic flux collapses and induces an electric current in the same way it was originally created.In addition, the CLQ4D10NP-101NC series of inductors feature excellent power handling capabilities. Their high power handling rating allows them to handle higher current levels and dissipate more heat before saturating, which means they can be used in applications with high power levels. The high-temperature resistance of the CLQ4D10NP-101NC inductors also allows them to cope with higher operating temperatures, making them suitable for harsh environments.The CLQ4D10NP-101NC inductors are also designed to reduce EMI/RFI interference, improve power efficiency, and reduce radiated emissions. The inductors’ shielded construction provides superior protection against external electromagnetic interference, while their internal construction also reduces core losses.
