Common Mode Chokes (CMC) are widely used for restricting differential noise in high speed power transmission and signal lines. CMCs are also effective for reducing interference from adjacent circuits, often referred to as “common mode noise.” CMCs are constructed from two strands of insulated copper wires wound around a central core.The CM6594-104 is a Common Mode Choke specifically designed for suppression of alarming common mode noise generated by modern electrical and electronic wiring systems. It is a compact, reliable, and highly cost-effective device that allows designers to easily and accurately enhance the signal integrity and reduce noise levels in applications requiring differential signaling.The CM6594-104 Common Mode Choke is designed for use in a variety of industrial, automotive, aerospace, and consumer applications that require high-speed power transmission and signal transmission. This choke features a wide 5.8 MHz to 2.400GHz frequency range, and low insertion loss of 2 dB from the common-mode frequency range of 5.8 to 1000 MHz. It has a rugged construction that provides excellent protection against vibration and shock, and is rated to a maximum temperature of 150°C.The CM6594-104 is designed to operate in either a differential or single-ended manner, enabling designers to choose the appropriate mode based on the application and environment. The device features high EMI suppression in both modes, with an EMI suppression of 30 dB at frequencies between 0.5 and 40 MHz.The working principle of the CM6594-104 is based on the use of two coils to create a common mode noise cancellation effect. Each coil is electrically connected to the opposite side of a circuit and contains an alternating current (AC) signal. When both coils are placed in the same region, the opposing currents create a magnetic field that reduces the common mode noise by canceling it out. In addition to providing common mode noise suppression, the choke provides differential noise cancellation as well, which is more effective in applications that require long transmission lines.The construction of the CM6594-104 also helps provide a high level of common mode noise suppression.
