Solid state relays are electronic relays that use a semiconductor switching element instead of an electromechanical contact. CMA2450 is a type of three-terminal thyristor solid state relay which can control the current within a certain range through DC power supply. The width of control voltage range allows for a large control range and more stable performance. When the control signal gets to the minimum voltage, the transistor will be turned on and the SCR will begin to be switched on until the control signal reaches its maximum voltage. This maximum voltage will cause the transistor to be turned off, and the SCR will be turned on until the control signal goes back to its minimum voltage, resulting in a continuous switching cycle.

The CMA2450 series solid state relays are commonly used in applications where physical contact between the two components being controlled creates excessive heat, noise or electrical arcing. These relays are ideal for applications such as controlling resistive heater loads, valve actuators, contactors, motor starters, solenoid coils, latching mechanisms, and electromechanical switch contact control. They are also used for computer peripheral switching applications, temperature control applications, and surge-protection (SPD) applications.
