When AC power is applied to the bridge rectifier, the two sets of diodes form a complete circuit. The two diodes in each set allow current to flow only in one direction and in the same direction. This allows the AC power to be converted to a DC output voltage. The resulting DC voltage will have a lower peak-to-peak ripple than the original AC input voltage.
