Common Mode Chokes are cables used to protect sensitive electronic systems from the induction of electromagnetic interference (EMI). The CMS3-1-R is a type of common mode choke designed for low voltage power supply applications, such as industrial automation, medical devices, or audio equipment. It is capable of suppressing EMI from 10kHz to 1GHz with a minimum insertion loss of 0.1dB and a common mode rejection of greater than 40dB.

The CMS3-1-R consists of two parts, an inner and an outer conductor. The inner conductor is made from a high-purity copper wire, and the outer conductor is made from a braid of tinned copper. The choke is constructed in a three-layer winding pattern, which allows it to efficiently suppress both common mode and differential mode EMI in the frequency range of interest.
