The CPC1302G is a single-channel, 10kV/V voltage-to-current transimpedance optoisolator, available as a board-mounted switch or as a self-contained surface mount device. This versatile, miniaturized circuit is designed to capture and transfer analog signals accurately and with up to 15kV EMI protection. It is a bi-directional optoisolator providing noise-free, low-temperature operation with wide operating temperature ranges enabling reliable performance over harsh environmental conditions.
This optoisolator features an LED input core for precise signal measurement and current transfer. The LED is surrounded by a protective shielding consisting of a photovoltaic isolation barrier and a current feedback circuit containing a transistor-and-photovoltaic output stage. It also includes an internal voltage reference to maintain accuracy of the LED carrier pulse, allowing for reliable measurements under changing conditions.
The CPC1302G is designed for a wide range of applications, including industrial temperature control and monitoring, line drivers, high voltage remote control applications, and audio/video equipment. It is also suitable for applications such as voltage regulation, low/medium voltage, audio/video post production, digital signal processing (DSP), motor control, medical imaging, and power supply regulation.
The combination of the current feedback circuit and the photovoltaic barrier is what drives the CPC1302G’s superior performance. The combination of the two creates a closed loop circuit which protects the device from damages from excessive voltages and other disturbances. The LED input core uses the highly accurate internal voltage reference to maintain the accuracy of the signal measurement, with an extremely high impedance level. This allows the CPC1302G to accurately capture and transfer low voltage signals with very low noise.
The current feedback circuit is composed of the transistor-and-photovoltaic output stage, which converts the input voltage to a current signal that is then transferred to the molded lead frame, creating an isolated electrical connection. The photovoltaic output stage then converts the current signal into a rail-to-rail voltage signal, allowing for flexibility and accuracy of the transimpedance circuit.
