Working Principle

During normal operation, CPDER5V0C-HF operates in a reverse bias mode and it is non-conductive as long as the voltage on the power line remains within the safe operating range. When an over-voltage event occurs, e.g. an ESD or EFT event, the CPDER5V0C-HF begins to conduct in the forward direction. This clamps the voltage and limits the transient current so that the protected system remains intact. When the transient energy has dissipated, the CPDER5V0C-HF reverts to the reverse bias mode and is non-conductive again.
