Application Field
The CPDER5V0C-HF is designed for single-line 5 V power supplies. It can provide over-voltage and over-current surge protection for IEC61000-4-2(ESD) level 4, IEC61000-4-4(EFT) level 4 and lightning surge 5 V DC protection. It can also protect hardware and data lines, as well as motors and loads in automotive, industrial and consumer electronics applications. Working Principle
CPDER5V0C-HF is a bi-directional unidirectional low-capacitance TVS diode, which is designed to protect one 5 V power line. The CPDER5V0C-HF features a low clamping voltage of 5.8 V at Ipp of 17A and low leakage current when biased off. During normal operation, CPDER5V0C-HF operates in a reverse bias mode and it is non-conductive as long as the voltage on the power line remains within the safe operating range. When an over-voltage event occurs, e.g. an ESD or EFT event, the CPDER5V0C-HF begins to conduct in the forward direction. This clamps the voltage and limits the transient current so that the protected system remains intact. When the transient energy has dissipated, the CPDER5V0C-HF reverts to the reverse bias mode and is non-conductive again.
