As the impeller rotates counter-clockwise, centrifugal force causes the liquid to be forced into the blades and swallowed into a recessed axis, causing the fluid to expand and flow through the impeller blades from the hub to the ends of the blades. As the fluid flows between the blades it passes through several circumferential passages which produce a direct force, causing the impeller to rotate and thus providing a measurable output.

The CPPLF-5BU can operate over a broad range of flow rates and pressure levels. It is designed to operate up to 1,000 psi and 0.5 l/min. The flow range is 0.05 to 0.2 l/min. and the repeatability is 0.2%. The turn-down ratio of this unit is 10:1 and it is capable of operating in both positive and negative pressure applications.
