The CR3002AA is an industrial grade Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode designed to provide protection against electrical surges and transients. The CR3002AA can be classified as a surface mount device (SMD) or through hole type TVS diode. The CR3002AA is composed of two paryfuran (Parylene) layers laminated together with a high temperature adhesive system.The CR3002AA TVS – diode is designed with a voltage transient protection threshold of 32 volts. This means that any voltage transient that rises above the set threshold will be clamped back down to the set voltage level. The higher the voltage transient protection threshold of a TVS – diode, the better the surge protection it can provide. The CR3002AA is capable of handling up to 1.5 joules of energy in a peak pulse current of up to 8.3 A.When incorporating the CR3002AA TVS diode onto a PCB layout, the designer must ensure a minimum distance of two inches between the TVS and the other components it is to protect. The CR3002AA should be placed strategically and uniformly on the board to ensure maximum protection from high voltage transients.The CR3002AA TVS diode is also designed with built-in overvoltage protection (OVP). This feature ensures that any overvoltage beyond the normal operating range is prevented from damaging the device. In addition, a temperature sensor is incorporated into the CR3002AA to monitor its operating temperature. The CR3002AA utilizes a thermally activated current limiting feature (TLC) that will be activated if the operating temperature exceeds a certain level to limit the current passed
