CRD1616-9W-Z is an evaluation board for LED drivers - specifically a DC-DC Step-Down converter based on dual pulse width modulation (PWM) controllers. CRD1616-9W-Z is targeted to be used in applications such as automotive interior lighting, LEDs for display and backlighting applications, street lights, floodlights and other application where high voltage efficiency and switched mode power conversion is required.Working Principle
CRD1616-9W-Z is based on dual pulse width modulation (PWM) controllers whose working principle involves using a switching elements such as IGBT or MOSFETs to switch on/off the input power at a given frequency and a returned signal is used to regulate the output voltage.When power is applied to the input DC voltage, the two dual pulse width modulation (PWM) controllers use a return signal to regulate the output voltage. The PWM controllers then modulate the switching elements to achieve greater precision in output voltage regulation.The return signal, which provides information such as load and input voltage, is used to drive the two PWM controllers which control the switching elements to control the output voltage and current.These signals are used to regulate the output voltage range and constant current output. The operating input voltage range of the dual PWM controllers is 3 - 16 V, so that the driver can be used in many applications. The driver also provides a wide input range and is able to handle up to 3A of current making it suitable for most high voltage applications.Conclusion
