Working Principle

When a low trigger current is sent to the gate of the CS30-12IO1, the gate current separates the electrons from the holes in the junction, resulting in a turn-on process. This allows current to flow from the anode to the cathode. The current will continue to flow until the current velocity drops to turn-off threshold.

The device is designed to withstand voltage up to 1000 volts, and to handle up to 30 amperes of current. It is available in TO-220, D2PAK and DPAK packages. It has a typical standby power dissipation of 0.20 W, and a thermal resistance of 2.8 K/W.
