Diodes - Rectifiers - Single
A CS3K-E3/I diode is a single-phase economical rectifier designed for general purpose use and for particularly sensitive applications. It has the characteristics of low forward voltage drop, low reverse leakage current, and stablized temperature characteristics. The product is suitable for automatic insertion from the tape and a wide range of input/output capacitance range.
Application Field
The product is ideal for such applications as power supplies, chargers, lighting, invertors, and high-speed switching applications. It is also suitable for full-wave rectification of single-phase or general rectification in power supplies and inverters.
Working Principle
CS3K-E3/I rectifiers operate using a 2-diode bridge configuration. During operation, when an input voltage is applied across the two pairs of output terminals, current flows in only one direction (from the positive output terminal to the common output terminal). When the incoming voltage reaches a predetermined point, the rectifier switches off and the reverse current path created by the two diodes is opened.
The two diodes employed in the rectifier act as back to back valves, blocking current from reversing direction when the voltage drops below a certain level. This operation drives a power MOSFET switch, disconnecting the supply and maintaining the steady state current flow.
Due to non-zero forward voltage drop of the rectifier, a low resistance connection must be made in order to guarantee optimum performance. An adequate connection should have a low capacitance and inductance, as they can lead to noise and distortion in both the input and output voltage signals.
