Solid State Relays
CT139 is a solid state relay (SSR) that provides a reliable and convenient switching alternative for controlling DC loads that consume up to 1A. It is also well-suited for use with low voltage AC applications, though the power rating is substantially lower. It offers the user a choice of latching pole, high-side current sensing, or low-side current sensing operation modes. The advantages of using SSRs over traditional electromechanical relays are better reliability, faster switching, and lower power consumption.
The main function of solid state relays is to switch a load on and off using a DC voltage. This is typically done either by a switch or by an optoelectronic device. The CT139 relay has a latching pole that is triggered by either an external circuit or the application of a DC voltage. In either case, the pole operates by transferring current between two points. One point is the control circuit and the other is the load.
Once the voltage is applied to the latching pole, the CT139 will remain in the closed state, and the load will remain on. When the control voltage is removed, the latching pole will reset itself to the open state, and the load will shut off. The CT139 also features an optically isolated LED that will light when the relay is actuated. This LED acts as a status indicator and eliminates the need for external current sensing.
The CT139 is also equipped with an over current and an over voltage circuit breaker. The over current and over voltage circuit breaker works by detecting current and voltage spikes present in the load circuit, and will activate the device’s optical isolation LED. This LED will illuminate when current and/or voltage is present in the load circuit, preventing the possibility of damaging the relay’s internal components.
The CT139 SSR also has a high side current sensing circuit, which detects excessive current flow in the load circuit, and will shut off the power to the load if the current exceeds the specified levels. This feature ensures that the load is not overloaded, which may cause damage to the equipment. The same circuitry also provides an indication of when the current in the load exceeds the rated value, allowing the user to accurately monitor the current in the load.
The CT139 SSR features a low side current sensing circuit as well, which has the same purpose as the high side current sensing circuit. This circuit adds an additional layer of safety by ensuring that the current in the load remains within safe limits. On top of that, the low side circuitry also provides a visual indication, alerting the user when the current is nearing the limit. This feature provides a quick and accurate indication of when the relay is about to trip.
In addition to the features mentioned above, the CT139 SSR features a range of adjustment options, allowing the user to customize the parameters for their specific application. These options allow for fine tuning and offer better control over the relay’s operation. These options include voltage and current limits, as well as various switching speeds and options for time delay.
In summary, CT139 is a solid state relay that can provide reliable and fast switching for DC and low voltage AC loads consuming up to 1A. It has various features, such as a latching pole, high side current sensing, low side current sensing, an over current and over voltage circuit breaker, and adjustable parameters. These features allow the user to customize their relay and tailor it to the specific application, providing improved accuracy and convenience.
