Baluns are integral components used in a variety of RF (radio frequency) networks, from low cost point-to-point wireless communication applications to high-end satellite communications. The CX2038LNLT is a new type of balun introduced by Cosemi that enables telecom and data center applications to overcome the challenges of managing high-speed, long-distance communication, while maintaining extremely high signal fidelity and eliminating crosstalk.
The CX2038LNLT is a single-ended to balanced line transformer designed to convert a single ended signal from unbalanced to balanced, which is necessary to achieve maximum signal quality in long-distance and high-speed communication systems. The CX2038LNLT features ultra-low loss, low insertion loss, and superior return loss performance to ensure extremely high signal fidelity. It also features an optimized PCB footprint to reduce board space and reduce the number of components required for a complete long-distance transmission solution.
The CX2038LNLT is designed to operate in a variety of telecom and data center applications such as 10G, 40G, and 100G Ethernet systems, SFP+ and QSFP28 systems, and fibre channel systems. It provides very low loss and high signal fidelity with its 10GHz bandwidth, enabling very high-speed data transmission over long distances. The CX2038LNLT also achieves very low crosstalk thanks to its symmetrical differential output, which prevents interference between data signals travelling in different directions along the same channel.
The CX2038LNLT balances the signal via a differential input and output. It uses a transformer with two symmetrical windings and an isolated ground. This allows the CX2038LNLT to convert single-ended signals into balanced signals while also providing isolation between the two signals. The CX2038LNLT can also be used to convert balanced signals into single-ended signals, enabling engineers to design systems that are compatible with a large range of different interfaces.
