CY26049ZXI-36T is a three-phase clock generator and PLL with a frequency range of 48MHz to 327.7MHz and provides a four-phase skew feature ideal for clock source timing scenarios that require four clock outputs of different frequencies that can be adjusted to specific phase shift. It offers a fan-out capability of up to eight outputs and adjustable in-phase to four skew settings, ideal for clock source timing applications that require a low total jitter budget.The CY26049ZXI-36T is designed to provide a cost effective and reliable solution in applications that require multiple clock frequencies. The integrated programmable PLL (Phase Locked Loop) enables a single input clock signal to be multiplied or divided to generate multiple low jitter signal frequencies from a single source. The CY26049ZXI-36T’s input signal can be external or an onboard oscillator can be enabled. As many as eight programmable outputs are available that can be PLL multipliers or dividers of the input clock. The output frequencies can be as low as 48MHz or as high as 327.7MHz. Further, programmable clock skew and phase shift are available that can help ensure better system timing margin.The CY26049ZXI-36T PLL circuit oscillates at a predefined frequency that is related to an input clock or crystal. This frequency can be divided or multiplied by factors that are generated by the internal divider or multiplier block. The PLL generates a set of outputs with frequency ranges that are derived from the input clock with the added advantage of allowing frequency modulation using one of the output signals.The integrated PLL is a typical current-controlled oscillator (CCO) and consists of a VCO, PFD/CP, loop filter and charge pump. The Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) module consists of an amplifier that changes the voltage of the internal oscillator, resulting in a change of its frequency. The loop filter is a low pass filter that works with the charge pump to control the output frequency. The charge pump charge and discharge current is proportional to the voltage value of the Phase Frequency Detector (PFD) and the current of the Comparator (CP). Output frequency is achieved through the VCO’s frequency variation upon CP’s and PFD’s influence.The CY26049ZXI-36T also provides integrated control logic and analog components which allow a higher level of operational flexibility. This allows the user to customize the device in terms of speed, control, and feature set for additional applications. The user can easily adjust the internal speed generators, thus enabling dynamic adjustment and expansion of the frequency range capabilities. The CY26049ZXI-36T features Zero Delay Buffer (ZDB), a unique digital technique that eliminates the need for a digital delay line to buffer the output data. A delay line can cause latency or variations in output data which can affect system performance. The delay line and the jitter inherent to it are avoided by providing additional low level control of the output signals which can result in a more stable system clock.The CY26049ZXI-36T also features a programmable spread spectrum frequency modulated output, which aids in EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) reduction. With the spread spectrum technique, the peak EMI is greatly reduced at a cost of an increase in jitter.The CY26049ZXI-36T offers an unparalleled solution for clock and skew management as well as EMI control in applications such as high-end computing, communications systems and consumer applications. This device also provides a cost effective solution for applications that require reliable clock source and multiple frequencies.
