In order to make use of the rectifying characteristic of diodes, Zener diodes are invented. A Zener diode is a special kind of silicon rectifying diode that works in its breakdown region for voltage protection and voltage regulation application. Application

Working Principle
CZUR52C2V4 has a special breakdown region which allows this diode to regulate current flow. The breakdown is controlled by a reverse bias voltage applied across the diode. In order for the diode to start conducting electric current, the applied voltage needs to reach a certain voltage level, resulting in breakdown. When the desired voltage level is reached, the Zener begins to conduct current, but the voltage is kept at the same level, to ensure the current flowing through remains constant.
In a circuit with a CZUR52C2V4, when the input voltage rises, breakdown occurs and electric current begins to flow. This current is conducted through the diode, resulting in a constant voltage across the diode, and also helping to regulate the current that is flowing through the circuit. When the input voltage reaches above the Zener voltage, a second diode connected in parallel with CZUR52C2V4 prevents the same voltage being applied to the circuit, thus preventing any further increase in the applied voltage.
CZUR52C2V4’s special breakdown region can also be used in voltage clamping applications. In this application, a signal or data is transmitted using two diodes in series, with a certain level of voltage applied across the diode to clamp the signal and keep it from going higher than the clamp voltage. When the signal voltage exceeds the level of the clamp voltage, the Zener diode conducts the excess voltage around it and thus keeps the level of the signal within the limit of the clamp voltage.
Therefore, CZUR52C2V4 is a very useful device for regulating current flow in a circuit and it is widely used in a number of applications.
