DA15PA Application Field and Working Principle

The DA15PA is a high-speed and low-power differential amplifier primarily developed for active tracking applications.

The device integrates a pair of high gain, wide bandwidth operational amplifiers and tightly matched resistors into a single package. The differential outputs of the two operational amplifiers can be combined in various ways to provide desirable amplifying, tracking, combining and differing results. A pair of low noise D-A converters generate the differential input signals. These are connected to eight terminals located around the perimeter of the DA15PA.

The device has been designed to operate at high frequencies up to 3 GHz, and to provide low output noise levels and low distortion. This makes the DA15PA an ideal choice for applications such as radar and communication systems, high precision analog-to-digital converters, active tracker applications, disk drive and printer drivers, and instrumentation and control functions.

The way that the DA15PA works is as follows:

• Input signals are connected to the eight terminals surrounding the perimeter of the device.
• The low noise D-A converters generate differential input signals which serve as the ‘A’ and ‘B’ signals.
• The ‘A’ signal is fed into the first operational amplifier (op-amp) and the ‘B’ signal into the second op-amp.
• The output terminal of each op-amp is connected to a resistor. The resistors’ values are chosen to matched the signal amplitude of the ‘A’ and ‘B’ signals.
• The output terminals of the two op-amps are connected through resistors to a pair of pin terminals located as the centre of the device.
• The amplifying, tracking, combining and differing operations are then performed, according to the user-specified programming. A range of adjustable voltage and current ranges are available.

The DA15PA is an excellent choice for applications requiring accurate amplification, tracking and/or differentiating of signals.
