Working Principle

The DAC124S085CIMM works on the principle of converting a digital code (N-bit) into a corresponding analog voltage or current output. It is designed in a low voltage, 3-terminal IC package which switches Current Mode Logic (CML) on the input pin, feeding into a 12-bit Voltage-mode DAC. The input digital interface comes in two lines, the MSb (Most Significant bit) and the DIN (Data Input) line that take the digital words.

When an input code is applied, the internal voltage reference regulates the analog output voltage to have a corresponding value of the digital code given at the input. The output is adjusted by the adjustable full-scale range of 16-bit accuracy and a reference current range of 0mA to 16mA. The IC provides ±1LSB DC INL accuracy and ±0.25% FSR linearity with a temperature coefficient of 10μV/°C.

The DAC124S085CIMM also provides reset logic, which is activated while entering power-down mode. The reset circuit brings the output back to the 0V level (ground) whenever the voltage falls below the RESET Vth level. The delay timer, is programmable for 1 ms, 5 ms, 30 ms, or 120ms, to reduce the peak current during reset.

The DAC124S085CIMM is an ideal solution for applications that require precision DACs with a minimum amount of noise, distortion and power consumption.The output voltage is provided from an external reference voltage and it is suitable for operating temperatures from -40°C to 85°C.
