The DAC712PLG4 is a high precision, low-power, 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), operating up to 1.8V supply and I/O voltage. It is designed for offline and mixed-signal process control and factory automation applications. The converter offers excellent linearity, low glitch energy and fast settling time. In its simplest form, the DAC712PLG4 converts a 16-bit digital value into a corresponding analog voltage or current output. The device uses a system of 16 switching amplifiers to convert the digital input values into current or voltage signals. The output amplifiers provide wide rail-to-rail options with a gain of up to 1V/V and 8mA/V increments.Gains are programmed with an external resistor or via a programmable serial port. The system uses a proprietary technique to calculate and maintain a linear transfer characteristic while consuming very little power. The on-chip voltage references offer excellent accuracy and drift performances, allowing the user to select from 1.275V, 2.5V, 4.096V and 5.6V references.The DAC712PLG4 consumes only 0.125mW power in shutdown mode and 120mW for full operation. It offers a wide operating temperature range from –40°C to +125°C. The processor supports 9-bit binary, 8-bit binary and Gray code inputs, operating up to one-million×/second settling time. The device is also capable of single-cycle and multiple-cycle digital sampling modes.
