The DAC7716EVM or DAC 7716 Evaluation Module is an Evaluation Boards - Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) designed to showcase and demonstrate the features of the DAC7716 digital-to-analog converter (DAC) IC from Texas Instruments.The DAC7716EVM is available as an all-in-one Evaluation Kit, with parts including: a reference sheet, an example circuit schematics and hardware, and other components to be used in the overall setup. Using the DAC7716EVM, engineers can evaluate and learn the DAC7716’s features and performance, and experience potential usage scenarios. The DAC7716EVM is also equipped with external connections and on-board access points to allow engineers to easily connect to other components for use in their application.The DAC7716 IC is a 16-bit, 2-channel digital-to-analog converter, powered by a 1.1V to 5V operating voltage range and temperatures between -40°C and +85°C. Also included in the DAC7716 are 2 sets of Control Logic pins per channel, which enable selectable settling time and serial interface formats.The DAC7716EVM is especially useful when evaluating communication and Audio, Video, and Imaging applications. The included schematics and example circuit components feature a range of audio/video components, such as the TLV320AIC3206, an audio CODEC, and the MCF51QM128, a microcontroller.The eval-module takes advantage of the DAC7716’s wide operating voltage range, allowing the DAC7716EVM application field to expand to include multiple power source types. The DAC7716EVM can also easily be used for experiments related to the development of embedded systems and related applications.The DAC7716EVM working principle is quite simple. It consists of a DC power input, reference selection, gain control, serial communication, and an output. The DC power input is used to supply the DC power and other components in the circuit. The reference selection switch modifies the reference voltage, whether it be internal or external. The gain control is then used to adjust the gain and level out the output signal. The serial communication port is used to send digital data to the DAC7716, where the device processes it and then sends it out of the output.By setting the Control Logic pins per channel, users can configure the DAC7716EVM to different modes.
