DB-LQFP48-LPC2103 is an evaluation board from NXP, which consists of a 67 MHz LPC2103 arm7tdmi microcontroller, two Phillips LPC2103 High speed MCU Evaluation Boards along with DIP Switch and Push Buttons, a DB-LQFP48-LPC2103 board and two 16-bit data buses. The board is usually used for embedded applications, such as automotive, industrial, medical, home automation and telecom systems.
Application Field
The DB-LQFP48-LPC2103 evaluation board is designed to help prototypers to evaluate and develop applications using the Philips LPC2103 High Speed MCU. Applications can include audio encoding, audio output, voice recognition, image processing, security, access control, industrial PLCs, GSM/GPRS communication, and robotic. The board’s design flexibility also allows for the evaluation of basic DSP algorithms, such as audio equalization, frequency domain filtering, and image recognition.
Working Principle
The DB-LQFP48-LPC2103 evaluation board integrates the LPC2103 High Speed MCU. The MCU has 2 independent 16-bit timers that can be used to generate PWM signals for motor control or for timing/measuring applications. The CPU Core incorporates a Branch Address-Targeting Unit (BATU), which supports very efficient code structures that improves performance and reduce code size. The MCU also supports the 1.8V or 3.3V I/O standard, which makes it suitable for low power operation. The evaluation board has two 32-pin connectors to allow prototypers to easily connect other circuits, such as external displays, audio CODEC, external memory, and sensors.
The DB-LQFP48-LPC2103 evaluation board includes connections for SPI, I2C, UART, USB, and CAN communication along with two 16-bit data buses. It also has two push buttons, ten DIP switches, and two RS-232 diagnostic connectors. The onboard debug interface is compatible with the LPC2000 Flash Monitor code debugger, which allows for debugging and programming of the LPC2103. The board also includes an on-board 10MHz oscillator, which allows the evaluation of most any peripheral device.
Conclusion
The NXP DB-LQFP48-LPC2103 evaluation board provides a complete platform for prototyping applications with the Philips LPC2103 High Speed MCU. The board allows designers to evaluate and develop for a wide range of applications, such as automotive, industrial, medical, home automation and telecom systems. It also allows for the evaluation of basic DSP algorithms, such as audio equalization, frequency domain filtering, and image recognition. The board has two 32-pin connectors, two RS-232 diagnostic connectors, two push buttons, ten DIP switches, and supports multiple communication protocols. Altogether, the DB-LQFP48-LPC2103 evaluation board is a great choice for any embedded project.
