The DC1749A is an off-line evaluation board designed to evaluate the performance of DC/DC and AC/DC switching power supply solutions. The onboard power regulators feature I2C programmability, enabling the user to control the output current and voltage across the load. The board also offers 200mA of output current and 5V output voltage. It is capable of supplying up to 5A of output current with adjustable output voltage ranging from 5V to 16V.The DC1749A features a wide range of protection features such as reverse polarity protection, open load protection, and over voltage protection (OVP) and over current protection (OCP). The OVP and OCP help to protect the board from any sudden power surges or temperature extremes. The board also supports a variety of load options such as line transient demands and AC/DC operation. To further protect against potential overloads, the board also has adjustable output current folding circuits that can be activated when the output current reaches a preset limit.The DC1749A evaluation board has been designed to work with the Xilinx Spartan-6 XC6SLX45-2CFG484 FPGA. The onboard 16-bit dsPIC33FJ256 microcontroller is used to control the I2C interface and power supply settings. The microcontroller is also responsible for various other functions that are necessary for testing and evaluating power supplies. The board also features an integrated TPS24240 load switch controller, which allows the board to operate in multiple load modes.The DC1749A evaluation board offers a simple yet effective method for evaluating power supply performance.
