The DC1749B evaluation board is the latest DC/DC and AC/DC off-line SMPS (switched-mode power supply) product from Kepco, Inc. The DC1749B is designed to provide users with a complete, user-friendly platform for evaluating the operation and performance of off-line SMPS products.
The DC1749B has two boards - the Step Down Board and the Step Up Board. The Step Down Board is designed to provide a regulated voltage from a higher input voltage level, often referred to as the primary winding, to a lower output voltage level, often referred to as the secondary winding. The Step Up Board is used to increase the voltage from the primary winding to the secondary winding. Both boards have an optional low-noise linear regulator.
The DC1749B is an ideal choice for a wide range of commercial and consumer applications, including automotive, medical, industrial, and communications equipment. The DC1749B offers an improved power factor and better efficiency than traditional linear regulators, as well as higher noise performance and lower EMI (electromagnetic interference) radiation. The DC1749B also provides a wide adjustment range, allowing users to tailor the load-current response of the device to meet application requirements.
The DC1749B uses an updated version of the traditional buck topology, which is based upon a totem-pole PFC (power factor correction) converter. The DC1749B is the first evaluation board of its kind to use pulse-skipping current-mode control architecture. The Protection & Monitoring Processor provides a well-defined architecture, and a configurable fail-safe option, while the Digital Monitoring System continuously monitors input voltage, output voltage, output current, and temperature.
The DC1749B offers support for single or dual output configurations, allowing users to expand the voltage and current ratings of their application design. It can also be used in applications that require high-efficiency, high-power-density, or high-power applications without the need for any external components.
