DC1757B is a two-phases step-down DC/DC evaluation board from Texas Instruments Solutions\' suite of power supply evaluation boards. It is a desktop evaluation board that operates as an off-line switch mode power supply (SMPS). It enables evaluation of the company\'s range of integrated circuit controllers for DC/DC converters, namely, LX7880 and TLV7880. Working Principle
DC1757B is a two-phases step-down DC/DC evaluation board. It works by converting an AC line voltage into a DC output voltage. The board consists of an AC/DC converter, a switching converter, and a overvoltage protection circuitry. The AC/DC converter is responsible for rectifying the input AC voltage by converting it to a DC output voltage. By varying the size of the rectifier diode, the efficiency of the rectification process can be improved.The switching converter is responsible for regulating the output voltage. It consists of a pulse-width modulated (PWM) controller and a MOSFET-based switch. The PWM controller regulates the duty cycle of the switch, thereby regulating the output voltage.The overvoltage protection circuitry helps to protect the circuit against overvoltage conditions. It consists of a current sense transistor, a diode and a voltage clamping element. Whenever the output voltage exceeds a predefined voltage threshold, the current sense transistor is activated, and the diode and voltage-clamping element are used to shutdown the circuit.
