The DC2025A-B is an Evaluation Board - Digital to Analog its main purpose is to offer a method of evaluating the Analog Devices\' AD5545/AD5555/AD5565 digital-to-analog conversion (DAC) chips. It contains a four-channel high-voltage, 16-bit DAC and a programmable precision reference voltage source which can be used to accurately generate a reference current up to 20 mA, so that it is ideal for applications in the industrial, automotive, or medical fields.
The Evaluation Board is enclosed in a thick plastic shell making it relatively robust for industrial and laboratory use. At one end of the board is a connection block for the voltage reference and at the other is a multi-pin header. On the reverse side of the board are four 16-bit DACs for each of the four channels.
The DC2025A-B has two integrated functions, one for digital-to-analog conversion and one for supplying a reference voltage. The user selects the resolution of the conversion with the option of 8-bit, 10-bit, 12-bit, or 16-bit resolution. The digital inputs are sent on pins labeled "D[15:0]" located around the periphery of the circuit board. These inputs are decoded and routed to the appropriate data register. A single-ended programmable reference voltage is used to supply a reference current which is then converted into the desired analog voltage.
The Evaluation Board\'s working principle is relatively simple. First, digital data is sent to the board and is then decoded and stored in the appropriate data register depending on the selected resolution. Next, the raw data is passed through a series of gain amplifiers, multiplying resistors, and other circuitry in order to generate an analog voltage from the reference current. During the last step, the output voltage will be filtered and adjusted in order to reduce glitches and accurate analog voltage is produced.
The Evaluation Board is designed for applications in the industrial, automotive, and medical fields, thanks to its robust construction and high-resolution DACs. The DC2025A-B is an easy to use circuit which gives precision analog results, making it not only ideal for evaluating DAC chips but also for prototyping analog circuitry. The board utilizes a single-ended programmable reference voltage with a maximum reference current of 20 mA, enabling the user to easily generate a reference voltage for their DAC, while its built-in gain amplifiers and multiplied resistors enable the user to generate accurate analog outputs from digital input data.
