The DC702A evaluation board is designed for evaluation of the Infineon XDP™ Open-Loop Digital Power Controller. The controller implements a multilevel peak current-mode control algorithm, which results in improved power efficiency, line and load regulation, and transient response with reduced external component count. DC702A is ideal for circuit-level evaluation, development, testing, and applications involving a wide range of power solutions for consumer, industrial, and automotive systems.The DC702A board is a high power digital power supply tailored for XDP™ Multilevel, Peak Current-mode Control ICs and associated gate driver ICs. It contains everything needed to evaluate and refine a design, including an on-board XDP™ controller, power components, and all other parts necessary for performing the necessary adjustments. In addition to being used for evaluation, the board can also be used as a reference design for the development of end-user applications.The working principle of the DC702A is based on a current mode control. In this scheme, the power is transferred from the input to the output through the power switch. The current mode control is implemented by varying the frequency of the power switch and adjusting the duty cycle of the output waveform. The output waveform is monitored in real time and any variation is detected and a control signal is generated to adjust the duty cycle. This method ensures a steady and reliable output voltage with reduced switching losses and improved dynamic response.The DC702A board includes components for power conditioning and regulation, including an XDP™ controller, a gate driver IC, inductors, capacitors, diodes, optocouplers, and various other components. The XDP™ controller and the gate driver IC are the cornerstone of the design, controlling and actively monitoring the switching frequency and duty cycle of the switching converter. This allows for an optimized control loop and improved system efficiency. The inductors and capacitors are used to both increase the filtering performance and to store energy and minimize switching losses. The optocouplers are used for signal isolation and to provide noise immunity.In the end, the DC702A is a complete solution for applications requiring a power solution tailored to XDP™ open-loop digital power control ICs. With its on-board components and control algorithm, it is an ideal development board for evaluating, testing, and refining designs.
