The DC751A-J is an analog to digital converter (ADC) evaluation board from Analog Devices, Inc. It provides a low-cost, two channel 8-bit ADC solution, suitable for high performance embedded systems. The evaluation board has a range of input amplitudes that can be selected via two bit configurations. A TTL signal is provided to sample and reset the device. The DC751A-J ADC evaluation board is designed to allow the user to quickly evaluate different modes of operation for the Analog Devices 8-bit ADC. The working principle of the DC751A-J is based on the Delta-Sigma (ΔΣ) ADC architecture. The Sigma-Delta technique is a noise shaping technique that reduces the overall noise of the ADC circuit. It utilizes a comparator which compares the input signal to a signal generated by an on-chip reference voltage. An internal squaring function is used to reduce the random jitter in the output of the comparator. This allows the ADC to achieve high resolution even in the presence of a low signal-to-noise ratio.
The DC751A-J ADC evaluation board is suitable for a variety of applications, such as medical imaging, automation and control, and audio systems. The performance of the ADC can be evaluated for analog-to-digital accuracy, conversion speed, dynamic range, power consumption, and SNR performance.
