The DC877A board is plug-in compatible with an 877A and 977A microcontroller, and provides a cost-effective platform for the development of user’s application firmware.
In terms of application fields, the DC877A Evaluation Board and Kit allows users to rapidly develop or debug applications on 877A and 977A microcontrollers. This Evaluation Board and Kit is suitable for applications such as communication, monitoring, and controlling.
The working principle of DC877A includes development tools and board resources. The development tools for the DC877A include the MPLAB® X Integrated Development Environment (IDE), the MPLAB XC16 and XC32 C compilers, the MPLAB ICD 3 in-circuit Debugger, Codenames Studio simulator, as well as the DeviceDoc™ and Data Sheets and Development Board User’s Guide. In addition, the board resources include an 877A or 977A device, supported peripherals, and associated power management circuitry.
The 877A/977A microcontroller is the centerpiece of the DC877A Evaluation Board and Kit. This device provides 8 to 32 bit processing power, Flash program and data memory, EEPROM, and a host of peripherals and features. The DIP switch located on the board allows users to select the operating parameters of the 877A/977A device, such as operating voltage, oscillator type, INTRC/ExtRC source, and programming/verify mode.
The DC877A Evaluation Board and Kit also features several other peripherals which are connected to the 877A/977A device. These peripherals include a liquid crystal display (LCD) driver interface, a rotary encoder interface, interface to a serial EEPROM, an AC’97 audio codec, a PS/2 keyboard/mouse interface, and a USB connector. The board also supports external circuitry to signal microcontroller events; these include LEDs, a buzzer, and a potentiometer.
The DC877A Evaluation Board and Kit also provides several features which are used to develop applications with the 877A/977A microcontroller. These features include a user programming connector (PROG), a reset/erase switch, a power switch, two LEDs, and two circuit test points. The PROG connector supports programming of the 877A/977A device via a standard 9-pin serial port connector. The reset/erase switch allows the user to reset and/or erase the 877A/977A device. The power switch is used to turn the DC877A board on and off. The two LEDs on the board indicate the current power status and also act as a status indictor to indicate if the 877A/977A device is executing code. Finally, the two circuit test points can be used to monitor signals on the 877A/977A device.
In conclusion, the Microchip Technology DC877A Evaluation Board and Kit is an extremely versatile platform for evaluating the features and functions for 877A and 977A microcontrollers. This powerful board provides users with a host of tools to quickly prototype application firmware and designs. This Evaluation Board and Kit allows users to rapidly develop and debug their applications, while also providing them with user-friendly features and peripherals for application development. This board is an excellent platform for users who want to quickly evaluate the features of the 877A/977A microcontrollers.
