The DCM4623ED2J13D0T70 is an evaluation board from ON Semiconductor that focuses on DC/DC or AC/DC Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). It is designed to allow engineers to evaluate ON Semiconductor’s NCP1250 Voltage Mode Controller.The board composes of a NCP1250 voltage mode controller, a transformer, and an auxiliary winding tap for power supply of the controller. The board is supplied with its own power, since the transformer’s primary contains a 38 V winding. The transformer output has two secondary windings, one providing 3.30 Vac and the other providing 20 Vdc. Two outputs are also available for the user. A 48 Vdc output is derived from a secondary winding with two taps for selection of voltage output. In addition, a 12 Vdc output can be obtained from the primary through a buck circuit. The NCP1250 is a current-mode PWM controller that regulates the duty cycle. Using just two external components, the board will provide a stable output voltage and current. The use of a transformer with two secondary windings allows the board to be configured for either DC/DC converter or an AC/DC converter. The NCP1250 is capable of being programmed with various Modes, making sure that the DCM4623ED2J13D0T70 meets user requirements. The DCM4623ED2J13D0T70 has a programmable Over Voltage Protection (OVP) with latch functionality. The OVP will trip when the output voltage exceeds an adjustable threshold. A typical setting for the board has been adjusted to prevent overvoltage. The DCM4623ED2J13D0T70 is configured to operate as an AC/DC converter using a single-stage high frequency transformer.
