DE2V2S500G30LF is a double high-voltage unidirectional TVS diode with an instantaneous power internal discharge capability. As part of the DE2V2S500G30LF series, the device is designed to protect low speed communication interfaces, which includes USB, HDMI, DVI, IEEE1394, Ethernet, and signals from short circuit damages from over voltage transients.

Working principle

DE2V2S500G30LF is designed to protect data lines from transient voltages and currents that could potentially cause damage to devices connected to the line. When a transient voltage, such as ESD or lightning strike, occurs on the data line, the DE2V2S500G30LF conducts the current away from the device, providing protection against damages and maximizing the reliability of the system.

The device consists of two high-voltage unidirectional thyristors, which are connected in series and adapted to operate in a voltage-clamped mode. This allows for a very low forward voltage drop, which in turn minimizes the energy dissipation when protecting the data line. Furthermore, the internal discharge path enables the device to automatically discharge the energy stored in the protection circuit, which can be discharged in less than 250 ns.

As a result, the DE2V2S500G30LF can provide up to 30 V peak-to-peak differential mode voltage and 2000 A peak-to-peak common mode current protection, making it ideal for data line protection applications.
