DF005MA-E3/45 Application Field and Working Principle
Diodes - Bridge Rectifiers are used for converting alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). The device has two alternately connected input couple and two output couples, each with a positive and a negative DC terminal. It has a reverse voltage (VRRM) of 200V, forward voltage (VF) of 1.1V, a proprietary signal of 200µA. It\'s designed to be mounted easily using the straight pin mounting system, by simply inserting the four pins of the device into a printed circuit board (PCB).When alternating current flows into the device, the current gets split and flows through each of the diodes. The bridge structure causes one of the current paths to be in forward direction, while the other one is in reverse direction. This enables the device to convert AC to DC, by allowing only the positive cycles of the AC signal to pass through, and blocking the negative cycles.The main working principle of DF005MA-E3/45 is diode rectification. The cycle contained by the alternating current is split in the bridge rectifier into two waves, with the negative cycles being completely blocked. The positive cycles form one output channel, while the zero crossings form the other channel. Due to this process, the output signal is a pulsed direct current, whose voltage and ripple content depend on the characteristics of the diodes.For some applications, ripple associated with the output signal is undesirable. To reduce this ripple content, the bridge rectifier is usually combined with a filtering circuit, such as a capacitor, resistor, or inductor.
