An encoder is a device used to measure the angular position or linear position of a component or a machine. Encoders are used for measuring the rotational speed, direction and count of a moving shaft. The DGS35-9HK02500 is a digital rotary encoder which is used for the sensing of angular motion in motors, turbines, pumps and many other applications. It uses a Hall Effect sensor and a magentic disk with nine evenly spaced sectors to provide information on the angle of rotation. It is a two-directional encoder with an output of two channels which are quadrature-encoded signals. The direction of rotation of the shaft can be determined by examining the pattern of output pulses from the two channels.The encoder has a high operating flexibility due to the wide input value range, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. It also has a high accuracy of measuring the angle, up to 0.1 degree. Furthermore, the encoder has a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to 105°C and a wide operating voltage range from 4.5V to 28V.Applications

The working principle of the DGS35-9HK02500 encoder is based on the Hall Effect sensor. The Hall Effect sensor detects a change in magnetic field strength (the flux) when a target (magnetically sensitive material) is located near the sensor. The Hall Effect sensor is mounted on the shaft of the encoder and it is paired with a magnet disk with nine evenly spaced sectors. As the shaft of the encoder rotates, the Hall Effect sensor detects the change in magnetic field strength as the nine sectors of the magnet disk pass. This produces an output of two channels with quadrature-encoded signals, from which the direction of rotation can be determined.
