One of the popular panel meters is DK807A. This instrument is a moving coil-type dcAmmeter that is widely used for monitoring process of electrical equipment.

A typical DK807A DC ammeter can have a measuring range of 0 to 100 A with a 230mV full scale voltage. It also has a secondary current of 0.2A ac and includes an internal shunt for current range. The meter operates in both peak and true RMS. As an automatic A-type device, it changes its direction of rotation when the input changes its polarity.

The instrument features a three-wire input with overload and short-circuit protection. An optional external shunt is available to increase the current-measuring range, if necessary.

DK807A is designed to work with direct current (DC) only and is not suitable for alternating current (AC) applications. It is also not recommended for use in high vibration and/or shock environments.

The working principle of the DK807A is based on the principle of electromagnetic attraction and repulsion. Two coils are wound in such a way that the current passing through the primary coil induces a magnetic field in the secondary coil. The resulting magnetic field interacts with a light-weight movable coil. The interaction produces a torque which deflects the pointer.

The scale markings are linear and directly proportional to the current flowing through the meter. The scale is calibrated to display the current by the meter\'s shunt for the range applicable for that specific model. DK807A has a current-sensing element which is connected directly to the primary coil and is usually a copper-wire-wound resistor or equivalent.

DK807A panel meters are lightweight, durable, and reliable. Their simple design and low power consumption make them ideal for applications where portability and low cost are required, such as remote metering, power system monitoring, or laboratory measurements.
